About Guatemala Juicy

Owned and operated by father and son Stuardo and Sam Coto, Finca El Platanillo is a complex ecosystem growing 26 different coffee cultivars as well as providing a haven for native plant species and migratory birds. A strong focus on environmental stewardship has led to both Rain Forest Alliance and Climate Friendly certifications. The farm also founded the Nuevo Platanillo school to provide internet access and computer education to children in the community as well as a coffee specific high school degree program. Always excited to embrace new techniques, Sam chose carbonic maceration, a process where ripe coffee cherries are sealed in airtight fermentation tanks for 4 days before being finished with traditional washed processing. This coffee is a showcase of the skill and dedication of the Coto family and everyone involved in operations at the farm.
